On this episode of The WhimsiMagical Mousecast we tell the first of what will be a four part series on the history of EPCOT. How it was meant to be the cornerstone of the modern day Walt Disney World and how it came to be not the EPCOT Walt envisioned but did become the theme park that we all know and love today. Would the original EPCOT idea made a difference in the Walt Disney World that we know today? Most certainly it would have. It may have even had an impact on the cities we live in today by it’s example of innovative infrastructure, transportation, layout and efficiency. We’ll also explore how the present day site was chosen and the creative way the Disney company approached purchasing the land at cost effective prices by retaining the secrecy of the company’s involvement.

With Ana joining us, we’ll then journey back to the present and discuss the International Flower and Garden Festival that is currently happening in, of course, Epcot. We’ll tell you about some of the events going on and why you should make a point of making a trip to experience this unique tribute to creativity and nature (with some great events and concerts thrown in to boot.
In this episode we’ll talk about the current pet care options inside of Walt Disney World and we’ll also advise you of current and near future attraction closures and refurbishments. Please join us for this episode as we continue to explore the whimsical and magical place that is Walt Disney World.

Typhoon Lagoon Is Open Again And Whipping Up A Storm of Fun This Spring!

TyphoonLagoonWaterParkColor1 Typhoon Lagoon Is Open Again And Whipping Up A Storm of Fun This Spring!

Logo property of the Walt Disney Company

Spring is in the air and the water’s crystal blue, the sharks are in the pool and they are waiting for you…at Typhoon Lagoon that is. That’s right Disney fans, Typhoon Lagoon has just re-opened from it’s refurbishment this past weekend and it is alive with wet and wild fun for the whole family. From the Crush ‘n’ Gusher to the 6 foot waves of the Surf Pool there is no way to cross this park without being enticed into a cool, wet adventure.

Along with Blizzard Beach, Typhoon Lagoon is one Walt Disney World’s two current water parks. This park features 9 exciting water slides: the Crush ‘n’ Gusher (Banana Blaster, Coconut Crusher, and Pineapple Plunger), Gang Plank Falls, Humunga Kowabunga, Keelhaul Falls, Mayday Falls, the Storm Slides. Add to this the Shark Reef where you can swim with leopard and bonnethead sharks, stingrays and lots of other tropical fish in a saltwater coral reef environment.

Basic snorkels, masks and life jackets are provided for free. However, if you would like to lengthen your experience go on over to Hammer Head Fred’s Dive Shop to learn about the SAS (Supplied Air Snorkeling). For an additional fee you can use this equipment to give you more time with our special, fishy friends.

Even the tykes will have a blast at Ketchakiddee Creek with slides, crawl tubes, waterfalls, fountains and a mini rapids ride that is all made especially for younger children under 48 inches tall.

A complete list of attractions at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon can be found at: http://www.thewhimsimagicalmousecast.com/typhoonlagoon

According to Disney legend, Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon was created by an epic storm. Surfboards were hurled into palm trees and boats were tossed around like toys.

The typhoon made the storm-soaked Mount Mayday an ideal source for exhilarating water slides. Surrounding the mountain, a 56-acre topsy-turvy tropical paradise was formed—full of waterways, rivers, rapids and slides.

The park’s most famous icon is an ill-fated shrimp boat named Miss Tilly. She found herself swept up by the twisting tides of the fierce typhoon and came to rest on the peak of Mount Mayday.Every half hour, the boat’s whistle blows and the volcano attempts to dislodge the ship, resulting in an enormous geyser of water.

As far as safety goes in this park, rest assured knowing that Disney’s highly trained and qualified lifeguards all go through rigorous training that exceeds most national standards.

Hours for Typhoon Lagoon are as follows (but subject to change):

10:00 AM – 5:00 PM 7 days a week throughout March
9:00 AM  – 6:00 PM 7 days a week April 1st to 14th
10:00 AM – 5:00 PM 7 days a week April 15th to May 26th
9:00 AM  – 5:00 PM 7 days a week May 27th to June 2nd
Extra Magic Hours: 8:00 AM – 9:00 AM May 30th

80a860eb9c35f46e4968a9788076 grande 300x225 Test Track To Follow New Track In 2012!
Disney and General Motors announced today that they have renewed their ongoing business relationship and will be embarking on a new journey together…The Re-Imagining and Refurbishment of the wildly popular Epcot attraction, Test Track. In recent months there has been hints of this happening with a special “test vehicle” sporting new blue paint and the Chevrolet Emblem appearing on the front of the vehicle in the attraction. What’s ahead, an all new modernized Test Track ride that sure to give even greater thrills and experiences. Unfortunately, what is also ahead for visitor’s traveling from April until the fall of this year are more of those tidy, tall refurbishment walls and no 60MPH wind whipping in your hair, as you play human crash test dummy, summer rides this year. But we are sure the wait will be worth it. Read more…

Welcome To The New Site Mouse Fans Everywhere!

Hi Everyone! This is T. Mic. I originally launched The WhimsiMagical Mousecast back in December of 2010. I have a real passion for Walt Disney World and for the history of the Walt Disney Company in general. I have tried to post shows up until now as I had time between the many other shows we do as well as our venture into doing video/film production as well. The WhimsiMagical Mousecast is actually on of my favorite shows to produce and record. As I said up until now I have been concentrating on growing all the aspects of our new webcast network and supporting our newest pod casters coming on board under the Audios Maximus Banner.

That being said, I have made a conscious decision based on my love for doing this show, and a recent letter I received from one of our listeners to finally get serious about the show and starting to produce regularly scheduled episodes of the show. I am currently in production of the newest episode and I will be posting it on New Years Day 2012 to bring in the new year with a bang. After that I will be releasing the show every two weeks along with the rest of our networks shows. Hopefully at a point in the near future the show will be produced on a weekly basis, keep your fingers crossed and well see how it goes. Bear in mind that I work a full time job as well as doing this.

To all of our listeners who have stuck with us up to this point thank you from the bottom of my heart for supporting my in this endevour, it really is a true labor of love. I will say however that those of you that would like to help support the content of this show, you can help support the show by clicking through our Amazon and other affiliate links if you are planning to make a purchase. It does not cost you anything extra, but the commissions earned will help to pay for bandwidth, web hosting, equipment upgrades to bring you better quality shows, and maybe buy me a cup of coffee or a 5 Hour Energy drink for all of the late nights I am staying up working on the shows. You can also donate directly to Audios Maximus Media Network by using our upcoming donation link to help support this show as well as all of the other Audios Maximus Media Network shows that you hopefully enjoy (that’s why we do this). If you do not wish to help support the programming we provide that’s okay too, we still hope you enjoy it as well (we really mean it)!

The site is, of course, just being posted and it is so new we are still taking off the bubble wrap. Check back often as I will be adding new content fairly regularly and if you have suggestions or comments I would love to hear what would make this site better for you! Feel free to call our listener voice mail line at 225.
308-9940 or email me at feedback [at] audiosmaximus [dot] com and be sure to let me know which show you are calling or emailing for.

Again my friends, welcome to our new site and I truly look forward to hearing from you and producing many, many more quality episodes for you to enjoy. Godspeed!

T. Mic

79 Disney 300x173 The WhimsiMagical Mousecast Episode# 4 7/24/2010 Its 1979 All Over Again! Our First Vacation To Walt Disney World!
Long before Eago hassled the birds, Jack Sparrow and Barbarosa pillaged the Pirates of the Caribbean ride, and you could find wild animals on Discovery Island instead of in a Kingdom. We made our first trip to the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World. In this episode Kenny and I (T. Mic) share the humorous and interesting story of our first trip to the house of the mouse.

We’ll take you on a virtual walk around the Magic Kingdom at the time and discuss rides and attractions that are no longer there to be enjoyed as well as the ones that are. We will discuss the differences in the park as we travel between the past and present and our perspectives on experiencing the park through the eyes of the children we were then and those treasured memories that last to this very day.

Long gone rides and attractions such as the Penny Arcade, the Mike Fink Keelboats & Canoes, the Magic Skyway, Mr. Toads Wild Ride and 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea are just a few of the attractions and rides we’ll discuss. So slap on those groovy bell bottom jeans and your best silk shirt (don’t forget that flashy neck chain) and hop in the Hornet with us as our family drives from south Louisiana to Florida to experience Walt Disney World for the first time. It’s time to Disco down to Disney.
